Having no IT engineering presence in the Canada, our client required three new HP Proliant devices to be collected from their offices in Toronto and then racked in their remote collocation site. Once installed, the servers needed to be patched to a switch and communications established.

The Computer Relocations engineer collected the servers and drove them directly to site. Once installed, our engineer contacted the client’s IT department in Toronto and confirmed they had remote access to the new equipment. CRL now manage all eight racks in their collocation site.

Data Destruction and Recycling

Whilst in the process of relocating to a new data centre, our client took the opportunity to dispose of a large number of redundant servers. Due to the sensitive nature of the data, safe handling of the equipment, and secure data destruction, was required. In addition the industry regulator required a ‘certificate of destruction’ featuring the serial number of every hard disk drive.

During the initial site survey, the Computer Relocations project manager identified and labelled all the servers marked for recycling. Once the relocation commenced, these items were quarantined and removed for processing. Our client received the appropriate certification allowing them to satisfy the regulator that the correct procedure had been followed. This service was free to our client as our costs were recovered through recycling.
